Bodega Nekeas from the Spanish Basque country has won a Silver Award at the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.

The Navarre-based producer earned its fourth award at the 2024 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for a medium-intensity Arbequina. The brand previously earned Gold Awards in 2019 and 2021 and a Silver Award in 2020.

Fatima Elizalde, the company's marketing manager, celebrated the award and said it will help the company promote its product on the world stage.

She added that the 2023/24 crop year was similar to the previous one in Navarre, located in the northeast of the country. The company produced 150,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil.
