The Kalamata-based producer earned the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition award for its Doleon Greek Premium brand, a medium-intensity Koroneiki.
"We are proud because of winning awards year after year at the NYIOOC," chief executive Giorgios Makris said. "This proves our commitment to quality, which allows us to produce one of the world's best extra virgin olive oils every year."
SIA Natures Icons earned Gold Awards with Doleon Greek Premium at the NYIOOC in 2015, 2020 and 2021. Makris cited climate change as the most significant challenge he faces each harvest.
"Climate change creates huge problems in production," he said. "That leads to an extreme rise of prices which we are trying to absorb at a big percentage."
