9 months agoBy OOT Staff

Laconiko from Greece has won four awards at the 2024 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.

The NYIOOC holds such an immense importance for us and our reputation. We are filled with so much excitement and fulfillment at being recognized in such a demanding year.

Located in Lakonia in the Peloponnese peninsula, the serial World Competition winner earned two Gold Awards for its flagship Laconiko brand, a medium-intensity Koroneiki, and its Laconiko ZOI brand, a medium Kalamata.

The company also earned two Silver Awards for a pair of medium Koroneikis, its Olio Nuovo Reserve and Kosterina brands.

"The NYIOOC holds immense importance for us and our reputation," said co-owner Diamantis Pierrakos. "We are filled with excitement and fulfillment at being recognized in such a demanding year."

"The dedication and passion we pour into our olive oil fills us with gratitude as we are able to provide our customers with the exceptional quality they deserve," he added.

In the 2023/24 crop year, Laconiko produced 25 tons of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.

"Our 2023/24 harvest was our most challenging harvest to date," Pierrakos said. "With unusually warm weather throughout our harvest, labor shortages with much higher labor costs, and the olive fruit fly constantly threatening the quality of our fruit caused major delays."

"Our 110 percent effort in producing the best possible olive oil was such an uncertainty this year," he added.
