Grumpy Goats Farm Wins 3 Awards at 2024 NYIOOC

Grumpy Goats Farm from the United States has won three awards at the 2024 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.

The California-based producer earned two Gold Awards for an organic medium Picual and an organic medium Coratina, along with a Silver Award for an organic medium Pendolino.

With 25 awards since 2015, Grumpy Goats Farms is one of the most awarded producers at the World Competition, tied for sixth in the rankings.

"It's an immense reward to be so recognized," said owner Pamela Marvel. "Our efforts feel validated. We welcome customers who also recognize our efforts and purchase our winning oils."

One of the main challenges Grumpy Goats Farm faced in the 2023/24 crop year was the vast number of olives yielded by the trees. The producers harvested 40 tons of olives from its 3,000 trees.

"We began our harvest - mostly handpicking - in early November with fruit fairly green," Marvel said. "But we were surprised at how quickly the fruit ripened. It totally got away from us, and we ended up harvesting fruit that was much riper than desired."
