Fruitful Harvest Finishes With NYIOOC Gold for Ezra Olive Oil
Turkey's Ezra Olive Oil has won an award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.
Located near the southern city of Mut, in Mersin province, the producer earned a Gold Award for a medium-intensity Ayvalik. "I am so proud of all our hard work, owner Esra Deniz said.
"During my Master's degree at Istanbul Bilgi University, olives and olive oil were at the core of my future business idea," he added. "During this professionalization process, I met my consultant Müge Nebioğlu and received significant support from her."
"Along with olive oil tasting training, I enriched my knowledge in agriculture and production aspects of the business," Deniz continued.
Like many of his compatriots, Beniz enjoyed a fruitful 2022/23 crop year, producing 8,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods. "It was a good year for us," he confirmed.
Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
