The Chalkidikis-based producer earned a Silver Award for its Daphnis and Chloe Selection brand, a medium Galani of Chalkidiki. The extra virgin olive oil earned a Gold Award in 2020 and Silver Awards in 2021 and 2022.
"This is our fourth consecutive award at the NYIOOC," founder George Pananos said. "We are proud to be winners in the world's most prestigious international olive oil competition."
"It gives us strength and motivates us to continue to produce one of the world's finest extra virgin olive oils," he added.
In the 2022/23 crop year, Pillar Grove Estate produced 4,400 liters of extra virgin olive oil, overcoming several climatic hurdles throughout the production season.
"We have had no rain in the month of September and halfway through October," Pananos said. "As a result, the fruit started to ripen prematurely on the trees, and we had to move in very quickly with the harvest. Thankfully, we made it on time."
Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
