El Renieris EarnsTwo Gold Awards in New York
El Renieris from Greece has won two awards at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.
Winning the award in NYIOOC has left us feeling ecstatic and accomplished. The recognition and validation of our hard work, dedication, and passion for producing high-quality olive oil are immensely gratifying.
Alexis Perdikakis, marketing manager
The Chania-Kritis-based producer earned two Gold Awards for its Estate Chania Kritis PGI brand, a medium Koroneiki, and its Sansibar Deluxe brand, also a medium Koroneiki.
"Winning the award in NYIOOC has left us feeling ecstatic and accomplished," marketing manager Alexis Perdikakis said.
"The recognition and validation of our hard work, dedication, and passion for producing high-quality olive oil are immensely gratifying," he added. "The sense of achievement and pride in being recognized among other esteemed producers in the industry is overwhelming."
El Renieris previously earned two awards for separate brands at the 2022 NYIOOC.
Perdikakis cited the unpredictable climate and macroeconomic events as the two most significant challenges El Renieris had to overcome to produce award-winning extra virgin olive oil.
"This year's olive oil harvest has been challenging due to unpredictable weather, labor shortages, supply chain disruptions, pests and diseases and uncertain market conditions, resulting in lower yields, reduced quality, and increased costs for producers," he said.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
