"It’s an intense emotion to win the NYIOOC. 2020 is our fourth year winning a Gold Award and every year, we are more proud to be committed to high quality extra virgin olive oil," co-owner Arianna De Marco said.
"For Cantasole, the Gold Award infuses a sense of accomplishment to the work of our whole team that brings energy and dedication to our olive trees everyday," she added.
Cantasole produces extra virgin olive oil from Biancolilla, Leccino and Picholine olives, using traditional methods. This year, the company took home its Gold Awards for a medium Biancolilla and medium blend.
In spite of their sustained success De Marcos said the 2019/20 season was not an easy one, with the climate and pests presenting challenges.
"We had many challenges, among which were drought and the olive fly," she said. "We had to find solutions in order to have a high-quality harvest."
