Úlive Triumphs with Gran Cru at World Competition

2 years agoBy OOT Staff

Olio Úlive from Italy has been awarded at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition. The Apulian producer earned a Gold Award for its Grand Cru, a medium blend.

The prestige of this international award fills us with joy and pushes us to keep taking care of Ulivè Grand Cru.

Emmanuel Sanarica, owner

"Our work continues 365 days a year, with care and passion," owner Emmanuel Sanarica said. "Receiving the Gold Award at the NYIOOC is the crowning achievement of our efforts."

"The prestige of this international award fills us with joy and pushes us to keep taking care of Ulivè Grand Cru, a unique sensory experience that we are proud to share on the tables all around the world," he added.

Despite Úlive's success at the world's largest olive oil quality contest, Sanarica said he had to overcome a range of challenges, mostly related to the extreme weather in Italy this summer, to produce an award-winning extra virgin olive oil.

"The dry and arid climate were the main challenges," he said. "To address this, we adopted an innovative and technological system of irrigation to intervene at the right time with the right methods to have a successful harvest."

"At the end of the day, we are very satisfied with the results," Sanarica added. "All the work has paid off."

Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
