Alexandros Olive Mill Awarded in New York for Makri Monocultivar
Alexandros Olive Mill from Greece has won an award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.
It feels great to know we give our customers the satisfaction of high-quality extra virgin olive oil.
Alexandros Voukoureslis, owner
East Macedonia and Thrace-based producer earned a Silver Awad for its Alexandros Special Edition brand, a medium Makri.
"It feels great to know we give our customers the satisfaction of high-quality extra virgin olive oil," owner Alexandros Voukoureslis said.
However, the feeling of winning at the NYIOOC is nothing new for Voukoureslis, who has won six awards at the competition since 2020.
Despite harvesting 570,000 tons of olives last season, Voukoureslis cited the dry weather and difficulties finding workers during the harvest as the main challenges he faced in producing award-winning olive oil.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
