Agresti 1902 Wins Gold With 501 Altitudo Itrana
Agresti 1902 from Italy has won a Gold Award at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
The company produces extra virgin olive oil in Lazio (Italy) from Itrana olives using traditional methods.
"We recover, by conversion to organic farming, centuries-old olive groves of the Itrana cultivar, at risk of neglect, over terraced fields, high up in the hills, on the most rugged landscapes of the Dop Colline Pontine (Pontine Hills)," said Francesco Agresti, owner.
"The roughness of the terrain forces us to manually carry out all the agricultural activities."
Agresti 1902 won a Gold Award for its 501 Altitudo, a medium-intensity Itrana monovarietal produced in Lazio, Italy.
"We hope winning at the NYIOOC can open up new markets and help us to enhance our work, our efforts, and the quality of our oil," Agrest added.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
