The company, which produces olive oil in Greece and sells it in Germany, earned the award for an organic medium-intensity blend of Manaki and Thassos Thrumba olives.
"We are very proud to have won the Silver Award at the NYIOOC," owner Charilaos Gounaras said. To win an award in the world's biggest competition feels great and proves that we are going in the right direction regarding cultivation and product quality. It gives us strength to continue the long journey."
In the 2023/24 crop year, 8:26 Histories produced 1,500 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.
"Climate change influences the olive groves and cultivation more and more every year," Gounaras said. "Very mild winters and extremely hot summers shock the trees and influence the fruiting process."
"Another great challenge is the lack of workers during the harvest period, on whom the traditional harvest method relies," he added. "There are no specialized workers."
